After hearing from a Straub descendant this morning, I thought perhaps there are others that read this blog that might have information/photos for some of the boarding houses I am writing about in “Echo Hill and Mountain Grove.”
EHMG is about life in Highland Township, Sullivan County, New York, from 1880 to 1920 and includes the boarding houses in the area.
Here is a list of boarding houses and/or owners that I could use more information on. You can send a comment to me on this post or email me

Hi Laura,
I’ve sent you a couple emails, but I am not sure you are receiving them. Guido Bischof and Ferncliff Lodge (and a still story) are part of Book 3 which will soon be available, I hope. You can reach me at: info (at) halfwaybrook (dot) com or austinsmithbooks (at) gmail (dot) com.
I have photos of my Grandfather and family at Ferncliff. Would like to share, and see if anyone has more info.
Laura,
It is so exciting to hear from you. Ferncliff Lodge and Guido Bischof will be in Book 3.
I will be looking forward to photos and stories!!
Thanks for stopping by.
My Grandfather, Guido Bischof, was the proprietor of Ferncliff Lodge around 1920 (+/-) til 1940/41. Looking for photos and stories.
